Decatur-Grady 911 announces the implementation of the Amerilert First Responder texting program.

Amerilert First Responder is the first and leading text messaging-based dispatch, paging and reply system for Fire Departments, Police Departments, Rescue Squads, and EMS.

Amerilert First Responder is the most convenient, reliable, and easy-to-use system to reach your team’s cell phones and pagers in an instant. Responders can reply back to let you know if they are coming and when.

Each agency that Decatur-Grady 911 dispatches for will have its own designated “group”. You MUST be an employee or approved volunteer to be part of the agency’s “group”. Each agency will have an administrator username and password so that you can send messages to individuals assigned to your “group” for departmental notifications, such as staff meetings, training, events, etc.

Decatur-Grady 911 will use the Amerilert system to:

  • Dispatch Fire units. This will be secondary to the initial page over the radio.

  • Notify responders of weather related incidents

  • Call out for Off-Duty Personnel, HAZMAT, Water Rescue, Investigators, etc.

  • Notify responders of significant incidents that are occurring within the jurisdictions, such as escapees, natural disasters, and large-scale incidents.

  • Information is confidential. Only you and the program administrator will be able to see your information. Dispatchers will only have access to your username and group. You will be able to login and update your information as needed.

  • User information will NOT be disseminated to other parties, agencies, etc. for any reason.

  • You will be able to respond to a text message with an ETA or acknowledgement that you received a text. A log is recorded for each text sent or received.
